Solidarity hunger strikes from ESP and SGDF members in Izmir

To protest the well-type prisons, ESP and SGDF members also held a 3- day hunger strike in Izmir from May 15th-17th, 2025.

Members of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) and the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF) held a 3-day solidarity hunger strike action against well-type prisons following a statement made at ESP Izmir Provincial Organization.

They stated: “On May 15, 16 and 17, we will be at our provincial building from 11 am to 5 pm. We call on all revolutionary democratic public opinion to joint struggle for the so-called well-type prisons. Well-type prisons must be closed immediately.”

Prisoners of ESP and SGDF made a 5-day hunger strike against the well-type isolation prisons and later on rotating hungerstrikes.

Their members in Izmir who joined 3 days hungerstrike also expressed solidarity with the prisoners of Grup Yorum, People’s Front and Dev-Genç who have been on indefinite hunger strike over a long period.
