TAYAD statement in Ankara

During a protest of TAYAD families in Konur Street, Ankara, a statement was read. Semiha Eyilik, who read the statement, drew attention to the following:

“In these days when the 10th judgement package is being discussed, our children have been hungry for months.

They demand the closure of S,R,Y well-type prisons and the transfer of those imprisoned in these prisons to non-well-type prisons. While the government is calculating how to release rapist perverts, it is also calculating how to kill our children. By saying that we will make a new execution law arrangement, the government, which imprisons everyone who opposes itself, does not even prosecute those who rape children in foundations close to it. It is said that the 10th judicial package will allow the release of sick prisoners and the execution regulation will be prepared in accordance with the principle of equality of the constitution. However, even if it applies its own existing law, there will not even be a problem of sick prisoners. The government, which cannot solve any of the people’s problems, constantly builds prisons to protect its power and puts our children in these prisons. Today, we went to the parliament to convey that we are with our children and to convey their problems and we submitted the demands of 9 prisoners. Well-type prisons are torture centres, they must be closed. We call out to the prisoners resisting here. We embrace and support the resistance of each of you. We also call out to the government, we know our children. They will not want to live in this torture centre. Accept the demands of our children as soon as possible. Know that we will hold you responsible for everything that will happen to them.”
