Emergency action for Kononovich brothers

An Emergency Protest was held at the Ukrainian Embassy in London against the forced removal of the brothers Mikhail and Aleksander Kononovich to a military recruitment centre.

According to reports on 22 May they were detained in a police car while on their way to a hospital, and when they called their lawyer, he too was arrested and taken to another military recruitment centre.

The brothers, who are leading activists of the Leninist Communist Youth of Ukraine, were arrested and have been in prison since March 2022, say they have been subjected to extreme violence by Ukrainian police and intelligence personnel since then. Although they have appeared in court for charges to be brought, after over two years they have never had a formal trial.

The protest was organised by the International Ukraine Anti-fascist Solidarity.
