Appeal court against release of Zehra to be seen today!

The political refugee from Turkey in France, Zehra Kurtay was detained in Paris a few days ago.

There has been issued an order for her extradition to Turkey, despite of the serious threat to her life and fundamental rights and freedoms that this would pose.

While a court yesterday has ordered her release, the decision was contested by the public prosecutor’s office

Under normal circumstances, the appeal court should be seen after 4 days, but the prosecutor wants it to be seen immediately and has scheduled the appeal court for today, 31st May, at 2.00 pm.

It seems clear that political figures in close cooperation with the Erdogan regime want to expel Zehra Kurtay as quick as possible without taking into account her legal and human rights.

Urgent mobilizations started yesterday to defend her political right to asylum and to prevent her extradition to a country that is well-known for systematical torture and arbitrary detention of its opposition forces.
