Me and My Struggle
Longing for the sky, the sun, for people
At the bottom of this well, it’s me and my struggle.
We sit face to face, drinking tea.
“How are you?” it asked first, “Are you well?”
“I’m well,” I said, “I’m complete with you.”
“And the pains, the sorrows?”
“Nothing compared to my people’s suffering.”
“Do you need anything?”
“No. I have you! That’s enough.”
“Longing for family, spouse, friends?”
“It’s hard, but thanks to you, that too is bearable.”
“After tea, I’ll go,
See the other comrades too.
No worries, we are together after all.
You’ve given me everything I need.
I’m grateful to you.”
Then it stood up, we embraced.
I hugged my struggle tightly.
