RAMIRO’S LETTER: FROM THE PRISON HOSPITAL

Brothers, sisters, comrades, friends:

My family tells me in these uncertain days of the solidarity, of the fraternity received by social collectives, politicians, affinities, workers’ organisations, artists, etc.; it is very difficult to express my emotion for the embrace, it cannot be expressed in words, it transcends language and strikes the heart.

Perhaps this feeling manifests itself in smiles, hugs, tears of joy. I am sometimes overwhelmed by this deep affection of comrades, the human warmth, and I have only my life as a popular fighter to offer them.

 My militant life in the ranks of the Front when many young people in this country said we would confront tyranny at any cost, with determination, with dignity and with a torrent of audacity.

Today I continue with the same fortitude of those dark years. I will not fail, first of all, my sisters, my brothers and sisters, who are still lying in the avenues of death, nor will I fail those of us who survived, and even less will I fail the militant people who have a solid memory.

It can only be resisted by fighting.
