Longest political prisoner in Europe, George Ibrahim Abdallah is free

After almost 41 years imprisonment in France, the anti-imperialist, communist prisoner George Ibrahim Abdallah was finally released on the 25th July 2025.

Georges Abdallah has become a symbol for the struggle for freedom and justice for Palestine, a fighter for the cause of all Palestinian people, who until today never gave in to the repression and continued his struggle under severe isolation conditions.

After his arrest in 1984, he was punished to 15 years prison, even though there was no evidence against him for the action he was punished for.

Nevertheless, the interventions of US-imperialism prevented his freedom even after 15 years and the detention was constantly delayed to make it a life-long sentence.

Surely it was the contiuously growing solidarity movement for Georges Abdallah in France and demands for his freedom internationally, that finally led to his freedom. His steadfastness on the other hand is linked with the unbroken liberation struggle of the Palestinian people!
