1-week hungerstrike for Serkan Onur Yilmaz by other prisoners

In the last 2 weeks, Turkish TV channels, human rights lawyers, deputies and prisoners’ relatives increased their reports to clarify how serious the situation of prisoner Serkan Onur Yilmaz has become. The health situation of the death fast resister has detoriated as much that there might be no recovery.

But worse of that, his life could end very soon if the justice ministry doesn’t listen to his legitimate demand. The new high security prisons of type S, R and Y continue to violate basic human rights and put inmates illegally under permanent isolation. It’s up to the Turkish authorities to stop this arbitrary prison practices and to prevent the death of Serkan Onur Yilmaz.

Yesterday, August 20, the revolutionary protest band “Grup Yorum” announced on its social media accounts that their band member Rezzan Şengül, as well as death fast veterans İleri Kızılaltun and Gökhan Yıldırım, who are imprisoned in Marmara Prison, have started a week-long hunger strike as of August 20.

Their demand is that Serkan Onur Yılmaz’s demands be accepted.
