Serkan Onur Yilmaz needs urgent action – JOIN US

The mobilization for the 10 hungerstrikers/death fast resister Serkan Onur Yilmaz continues. In the past week numerous actions took place along Europe to denounce the inhuman conditions in S,R,Y (Higah Security Prisons) in Turkey.

The prison architecture that recalls a pit and the systematic isolation applied towards the prisoners in these facilities cleary violate any human rights standards and international conventions signed by Turkey.

We’re observing the government in Turkey and we openly and explicitely support the demand of Serkan Onur Yilmaz who is close to death while urging the authorities to transfer his comrades from the so-called pit-types to prisons with normal conditions!

In the past 2 years dozens of prisoners succeeded with their resistances and their just demands were accepted. The state in Turkey MUST NOT wait for the death of Serkan Onur Yilmaz or others in serious conditions and immediately accept their demands.

These prisons should be closed, because they are places of death, torture, annihilation, dehumanization! There is no point in referring to these places as penal institutions.

Serkan Onur Yilmaz was transferred from the pit-type isolation prison (Antalya High Security Prison)  to BOLU F TYPE PRISON. As of today, 26.08.2025, he has been on a death fast for 289 days, which he started on November 10, 2024

His demands:

• The transfer of Ümit Çobanoğlu, Gürkan Türkoğlu, and Tahsin Sağaltıcı, who are being held at Antalya YGC and are on hunger strike, and their friends who are too ill or elderly to go on hunger strike…
