15 October: Day of Action and Alert

On October 15, the 200th day of Fikret Akar’s indefinite hunger strike, protests, one-day international support hunger strikes and various forms of solidarity actions will take place in different countries.

People will gather in front of embassies and general consulates of Turkey to support the demands of the political prisoners, who resist pit-like isolation cells in Turkey with long-term hunger strikes and death fasts.

While the resistance of prisoners against these inhuman prison types is quickly advancing, 3 hunger strike/death fast resisters – Fikret Akar (on indefinite hunger strike since March 30, 2025), Serkan Onur Yilmaz (on a death fast since November 10, 2024) and Ayberk Demirdögen (on a death fast since March 11, 2025) are in very serious conditions.

It was reported that Serkan Onur Yilmaz cannot speak and get up anymore. He has breathing problems. It seems as if he will not be able to hold out much longer and will die if the state does not respond to his just demands soon: The transfer of 8 of his imprisoned friends out of the Antalya High Security Prison, which is contrary to any human standards.

Ayberk Demirdögen is very weak and not doing well at all. His situation has become critical as well.

Fikret Akar cannot take sugar anymore, so he has no source of energy. According to his explanations, he’s extremely freezing, has got heavy muscle pain and cramps.

If this call reaches you, please support the prisoners, join the action day by spreading the call, writing E-Mails to the Ministry of Justice for immediate action. Tell them that isolation is torture, it is a crime and that the demands of the hunger striking prisoners are legitimate and can be easily fulfilled.
