PRISONERS ON HUNGER STRIKE AGAINST ISOLATION TORTURE IN TURKEY ARE ON THE VERGE OF DEATH

Recently 15 Political prisoners demand to be transferred from so-called S, Y or High Security prisons, in which their rights are permanently violated through unhuman prison conditions – ISOLATION TORTURE! They are being deprived from fresh air, sunlight, movement and contact to other human beings over a long period.

Total isolation for 23 hours is the “normality” in these buildings presented to the public as “PENITENTIARY INSTITUTUIONS”. A camera is watching all movements inside the small cell and hereby violates privacy.

ALL OUR EFFORTS ARE TO PREVENT DEATHS, TO JOIN THE STRUGGLE AGAINST TORTURE, INHUMANITY, INJUSTICE

URGENT: Fikret Akar (206 days indefinite hungerstrike) – He has been taken to Karatepe High Security Prison in Çorlu in February this year and is kept under serious isolation conditions, which are unbearable. He therefore demands his transfer to a prison with human standards.

URGENT: Serkan Onur Yilmaz (345 days death fast) – He has been taken first to Antalya High Security Prison, where prisoners are kept under inacceptable and unhuman isolation conditions, and was transferred to Bolu F Type prison after he carried out a long hunger strike. Since 8 former fellow prisoners are still kept under these conditions at Antalya’s High Security Prison, he decided to continue and reached a life-threatening stage. He could die within short time.

A third prisoner out of 15 prisoners, who are on a hunger strike against their prison conditions, is Ayberk Demirdögen. He is on death fast since March 11, 2025 and in a extremely critical situation as well. He was also transferred out of a prison with harsh isolation practices and recently kept at Kirikklae F Type Prison. He is contiuing his hunger protest as well, so that other prisoners be transferred and to support Serkan Onur Yilmaz.

We urge everyone to intervene, to react, to make statements and to denounce the murderous and torturous prison politics of the Turkish government, because only this would save the life of the prisoners and end the permanent torture they have to face over years.
