Living conditions of political prisoner in Spain

We received news about the living conditions of the communist prisoner María José Baños Andújar, who is seriously ill.

Accordingly, María José Baños Andújar, a communist political prisoner (now in her 35th year of imprisonment) held at Murcia II prison, is in critical health due to prolonged and systematic lack of medical care.

One of her comrades, political prisoner Marcos Martín Ponce, denounced the total lack of medical care that Baños needs in a letter dated 30 July 2025 and written from prison.

In this letter, which reached the outside world a month and a half later, Martín stresses that this situation is not an isolated case, but part of a systematic strategy by the Spanish state to punish political prisoners who maintain their anti-fascist activism despite decades of imprisonment, isolation and psychological and physical torture.
