Video: Alarming phone call with Fikret Akar

In the following video (original version with English subtitles), Sükriye Akar talks about her most recent telephone conversation on 22 November with her husband, Fikret Akar, who is imprisoned in Turkey.

He has been on an indefinite hunger strike for 242 days to demand his transfer from the Corum-Karatepe High Security Prison, which is one of the prisons, described as ‘pit-type’ prisons due to their design. He is convinced that the authorities want to force-feed him. He is determined not to let that happen under any circumstances. In this video, his wife appeals primarily to Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc to close these prisons and immediately accept the demands of the prisoners on indefinite hunger strike and death fast.
