Action Days: Ayberk Demirdogen reached the 270th day of his death fast against isolation

From 4th-6th December, solidarity actions took place in different European cities to highlight the struggle of political prisoners in Turkey against isolation prisons and deprivation of their rights, as communication, publications and visits.

This mobilization was made on the occasion of Ayberk Demirdogen’s 270th day of death fast. His condition is critical, but his will to struggle against rights violations remains strong.

DECEMBER 4- HASHTAG ACTION:

On the occasion of the 270th Day of death fast resistance of Ayberk Demirdogen (December 6), the dates from December 4-6 were declared as action days to support the demands of the political prisoner.

Between 19.00-21.00 CET (21.00-23.00 Turkey time), 4000 tweets were made on the platform X, by using the hashtags “Ayberk270” and “Kuyu Tipi Hapishaneler Kapatilsin” (close the pit-type prisons). This action was a success since it got 1,234,000 views and the voices of political prisoners and their struggle for a human prison system was made heard by a large number of people.

DECEMBER 5 – PROTESTS AND SOLIDARITY ACTIONS IN FRONT OF TURKEY’S EMBASSIES AND CONSULATES

On Friday, December 5, the campaign in support of the political prisoner Ayberk Demirdogen, continued with protest actions in front of Turkey’s embassies and consulates.

In Minsk, a letter by the “Russian Solidarity Committee with Political Prisoners in Turkey” was taken to the Turkish embassy. Though the embassy staff refused to take it, the letter was thrown in the post box. The letter of the solidarity committee was also taken to the embassy of Turkey in Moskow, but since they didn’t accept the letter, it will be submitted in a formal way. In Kiev, the antifascist brothers Kononovich also went to the embassy of Turkey to hand over the letter of the solidarity committee.

In front of other embassies and consulates protests were held to support the demands of Ayberk Demirdogen and other prisoners on hungerstrike.

From Switzerland also letters were sent to the political prisoners to express solidarity.

DECEMBER 6 – SOLIDARITY HUNGERSTRIKE

To support the demands of Ayberk Demirdogen on the 270th day of his death fast resistance for the right to communication and end of other restrictions, as well as for other political prisoners who resist the pit-like isolation prisons, hunger strikes were carried out in different countries of Europe.
