New victories in the resistance to Turkey’s prison isolation system

In the resistance to pit-type prisons, our children Ayberk Demirdögen (on the 290th day of his hunger strike), Ulas Inci (on the 78th day of his hunger strike) and Nazim Şafak Korkmaz (on the 68th day of his hunger strike) ended their resistance with victory. They won through resistance. Those who resist are victorious. We celebrate the victory of our children.

We achieved these victories through the resistance of our children inside the prisons and the struggle of our families outside them. However, we still have friends on indefinite hunger strike in ‘pit-type’ prisons.

In Antalya pit type Prison, today Tahsin Sağaltıcı is on day 152 of his indefinite hungerstrike, Gürkan Türkoğlu is on day 152, Hüseyin Özen is on day 131.

Additionally, Doğan Karataş is on his 74th day of an indefinite hunger strike at Çorlu Karatepe Prison. Finally, Ali Dilmen has been on an indefinite hunger strike for 140 days, demanding that the sick prisoner Ufuk Keskin be given a special diet.

We, as families, must fight harder to pull our children out of these pits. For 118 days they (the families) have been resisting in Ankara’s Kurtuluş Park. Our families are also resisting outside the Migros in the Şirinyer district of İzmir.

Let us support, grow and multiply these resistances.“

Each letter or postcard will break the walls of isolation and strenghten the resistance of the prisoners.
