URGENT CALL FOR SICK PRISONER IN TURKEY

Irfan Yilmaz is 96% disabled, but he still stays in prison in Turkey.

“I can’t do the following things by myself: brush my teeth, lie down, sit up, take a bath, wash my hands or stretch my legs. You will definitely need at least one person’s help to do all this.”

Let us share this letter, which he wrote regarding his condition.

“AS INDICATED IN THE FORENSIC MEDICAL INSTITUTE (ATK) REPORT, I AM 96% DISABLED. THIS MEANS THAT I CANNOT EVEN MEET MY MOST BASIC HUMAN NEEDS ON MY OWN. I CANNOT BRUSH MY TEETH, LIE DOWN, SIT UP, TAKE A BATH, WASH MY HANDS, OR EVEN STRETCH MY LEGS BY MYSELF!
To do all this, you definitely need at least one person’s help. Due to my illness (Cerebellar Syndrome), this situation continues to worsen every day. I am living with the support of my friends. In fact, another friend is even writing this letter
to you.”

But dispite this  fact, the secutrity forces give the following reason just to prevent his release:
“As a result of our investigations into the individual named Irfan Yılmaz,
if his sentence is suspended, it could pose a threat to public safety…”

SO WHILE THE FORENSIC MEDICAL INSTITUTE HAS CONFIRMED THAT HE CANNOT MOVE BY HIS OWN AND COULDN’T STAY IN PRISON FOR THIS REASON, THE SARIYER DISTRICT POLICE DEPARTMENT SAID “LET HIM STAY”!
SO HE REMAINS IN PRISON.

The words of Irfan are also a call to us to act for his freedom and to gain justice:

“I wish to report the health problems I have developed as a result of the injustices I have experienced, and I want these injustices to end. I wish you every success in your work.”

Freedom for Irfan Yilmaz and all Sick Prisoners is a matter of solidarity action

1-) Sending letters and postcards to the prison where Irfan Yilmaz is being held to demand justice and protect his health.
