February 14th marked the 200th day of indefinite hunger strike of the political prisoners in Turkey, Tahsin Sagaltici and Gürkan Türkoglu.
Their resistance is part of an uninterrupted prisoner mobilization in order to fight S, R and Y type isolation prisons. These pit-like prisons (officially called High Security Prisons) have become places, where in the past years dozens of political prisoners have been resisting with their bodies at full risk of their lives. The inhuman conditions to which prisoners are subjected in these prisons, are inacceptable and clearly violate international human rights standards. These architectures are used a mechanism of systematically isolation torture, in which prisoners take physical and psychological damages through deprivation of their basic needs and rights.
On the occasion of the 200th day of indefinite hunger resistance of Tahsin Sagaltici and Gürkan Türkoglu, 1-day collective hunger strikes were carried out in different European countries and cities.
SOLIDARITY HUNGERSTRIKES:
This time also Greek and Basque political prisoners joined the hunger strike in support of the resisting political prisoners in Turkey.
BASQUE COUNTRY (EUSKAL HERRIA):
Mikel San Sebastián, Garkoitz Etxeberria, Patxi Ruiz and Jon Kepa, political prisoners, participated on Saturday 14th in the hunger strike that has reached 200 days, in solidarity with Turkish prisoners, making their demands their own and denouncing the repression suffered in the prisons of capitalism.
Political prisoners to the streets! Total Amnesty!!!
GREECE:
Dimitris Hatzivaseiliadis, political prisoner at the Domokos prison in Greece joined the solidarity hunger strike for the resisting prisoners in Turkey.
In total, 359 people in 8 European countries went on a collective hunger strike on the 200th day of hunger strike:
Germany: 43 Austria: 45 Basque Country: 4 (political prisoners) France: 33 England: 20 Sweden: 1 Switzerland: 8 Greece: 205
On the occasion of 200 days hunger strike resistance, many good examples of international solidarity were shown from individuals and movements in France, the Basque country, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Austria and Greece.
Comrades of Popular Action in Greece joined the solidarity hunger strike with 4 people, one of them for 2 days.
The collective hungerstrike was also supported by Supernova in France with 5 comrades.
SOLIDARITY STATEMENTS:
A solidarity video was recorded also by OCF, a communist organisation in France, who took action for the political prisoners.
A representant of the Greek Popular Movement- The Communist Struggle Movement made a solidarity video concerning the 200th day of Tahsin Sagaltici and Gürkan Türkoglu.
A solidarity video was recorded also by the “death fast” resister, Aristos Chantzis, from the Community of Squat Prosfygika in Greece, for the resistance in Turkey; who raised his fist to Tahsin Sağaltici and Gürkan Türkoğlu, who reached 200 days of hunger strike against the SRY “pit-type” prison regime.

PROTEST ACTION:
To Salute 200 days of resistance to the S,R and Y isolation prisons in Turkey, a protest was held in front of the Consulate of Turkey in Rotterdam (The Netherlands) on Friday, February 13.
The demand for the closure of the pit-like prisons was carried to the streets again.
