On the 9th November, the People’s Front of Greece held a meeting with the Red Line organization from the Greek left to explain the ongoing death fasts and indefinite hunger strikes in Turkey against the SRY Type prisons.
During the meeting, Ali Yücel, who is on an indefinite hunger strike in Greece to demand that Serkan Onur Yılmaz’s demands be accepted, spoke about the isolation in the Type SRY prisons. He explained how this isolation serves as a policy of subjugation. He described the death fasts and indefinite hunger strikes carried out by the revolutionary prisoners in Turkey to resist these attacks aimed at forcing their surrender.
It was stated that imperialism and fascism in Turkey are trying to subdue the people by breaking the revolutionary prisoners. The meeting emphasized that these attacks have been defeated through resistance 30 times before, and the struggle continues. It was noted that Serkan Onur Yılmaz has been on a death fast for 366 days, and Ayberk Demirdöğen for 246 days. Their conditions are critical, same as that of Fikret Akar, who is continuing his indefinite hunger strike for 227 days.
The Red Line organization expressed their solidarity, stating that they would join in support. They announced that on November 15, they will call for and participate in a one-day solidarity hunger strike for Ayberk Demirdöğen, who by then will reach 250 days.
