INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY FOR POLITICAL PRISONERS (IS4PP)

Urgent actions against force feeding threat

Actualized:

The news about the forcible transfer of three political prisoners on indefinite hunger strike from Antalya’s pit-like (High Security) isolation prison to the Antalya city hospital has led to protests across Europe, with the demand to stop forced intervention and to immediately accept the demands of the prisoners to be transferred to a non-pit-like isolation prison.

Since 11 April, Hüseyin Özen, Gürkan Türkoglu and Tahsin Sagaltici have been held against their will at Antalya City Hospital. In support of their demand to be transferred to another prison, where they would not be subject to systematic isolation torture, and to prevent any forced intervention that could cause them serious harm, action has been taken.

Emails were sent to the Ministry of Justice in Turkey, the City Hospital and the Antalya High Security Prison to express opposition to force-feeding and demand the immediate transfer of prisoners on hunger strike to another prison where their human rights would be respected.

One-day solidarity hunger strikes and protests were also held, with the same demands.1-day solidarity hunger strikes and protest actions were held as well with the same demands in Rotterdam, Athens, Brussels and Zurich.

The prisoners on hunger strike are still kept in hospital against their will, there’s no medical treatment since they are on a hungerstrike against rights violactions and just defend their human rights. So, forced intervention is still a real threat to them.
