Greece: Death fast resister Aristotelis Chantzis’ call for hunger strikers in Turkey

In a video message, the Greek death fast resister and activist of the Profigyka Squat in Athens made an urgent call in solidarity with the hunger strike resisters in Turkey, who are subjected to force feeding torture:

Death Fasting Activist Aristotelis Hantzis:

I Call on Everyone to Gather in Front of the Turkish Consulate in Athens in Support of the Indefinite Hunger Strike Activists!

A message from Aristotelis Hantzis, who began a death fast in protest against the eviction raids targeting squatted homes in Greece, for the indefinite hunger strike activists Gürkan Türkoğlu, Tahsin Sağaltıcı, and Hüseyin Özen—who were forcibly taken to the hospital to be subjected to force feeding torture in an attempt to cripple them!

Today, Monday, April 20, the Turkish state—the fascist AKP-MHP government—carried out a forced intervention (force-feeding) against hunger strike protester Gürkan Türkoğlu. Comrade Gürkan Türkoğlu, along with Tahsin Sağaltıcı, is on the 265th day of their hunger strike resistance against “pit-type” and S-R-Y-type prisons.

Comrades Hüseyin Özen and Sağaltıcı have stopped consuming water and sugar as of today to protest the forced intervention imposed by the Turkish state on Gürkan Türkoğlu.

Forced intervention is a horrific form of torture used against the will of a hunger striker. Our comrades’ hunger strike will prevail.

Today, I, Aristotelis Chantzis—who has been on a hunger strike since February 5 and is now on the 75th day of my resistance—declare my unwavering solidarity.

I hereby declare our solidarity with the struggle on both sides of the border.

This struggle against fascism, capitalism, and imperialism is a common struggle. I call on everyone to join me today at 5:00 p.m. in front of the Turkish Embassy.

Down with fascism!

We will win, we will win!”
