URGENT CALL: SAVE HUNGERSTRIKING PP’S

Once again we call for solidarity action to protect the lives of 3 hunger striking political prisoners in Turkey.

On April 11, Gürkan Türkoglu, Hüseyin Özen and Tahsin Sağaltıcı were taken from Antalya High Security Prison (pit-like isolation prison) to Antalya City Hospital against their will and after Gürkan lost consciousness yesterday, on his 265th day of hungerstrike, he had been subjected to forced medical intervention. While Hüseyin Özen’s (Day 246) condition remains stable., Tahsin Sagaltici’s (Day 266) condition has deteriorated to the point where he is unable to consume either water or sugar.

Information has been provided indicating that they will also face forced intervention.

A lawyer could see Gürkan after forced intervention, reporting:

“He was handcuffed to the bed, and his other hand was tied to the bed. He was very weak because he was tearing off those things on his body. He was conscious, but he could barely speak and understand; he was in a bad condition.“

FORCE FEEDING = TORTURE ISOLATION = TORTURE

THE TURKISH AUTHORITIES ARE COMMITTING CRIMES!

Appeal to the conscience of the doctors and urge the authorities to stop torturing and endangering the lives of prisoners. Demand that they accept the prisoners’ request to be transferred to a prison that meets basic human standards.
