TAYAD – Update on Gürkan Türkoğlu’s health (24 April 2026)

Transcription of the video:

“Hello everyone. We are the TAYAD Families. We continue to wait outside the hospital where Hüseyin Özen, Tahsin Sağlatıcı and Gürkan Türkoğlu – who achieved victory after a 267-day indefinite hunger strike in Antalya’s high-security prison – are being treated.

The health of Hüseyin Özen and Tahsin Sağlatıcı is improving day by day. Gürkan Türkoğlu is currently still in intensive care. We would like to appeal to the public from here.

Gürkan Türkoğlu’s need for blood continues. All you need to do is go to the blood centres in the provinces where we are and say that you wish to donate blood for Gürkan Türkoğlu, who is currently in Antalya City Hospital. We would like to share the following with you.

Gürkan Türkoğlu’s life is still in danger. However, for us, even the tiniest spark could set the world ablaze. That is why his mother and father entered the intensive care unit today.

Holding a piece of paper, his mother called out to Gürkan: “My son, get up now, we’ve won.” And Gürkan reacted. He responded to the victory. This is very good news for us.

That is why we must continue to support the resistance. We are calling on all our people to gather in front of Antalya City Hospital for Gürkan. Gürkan has defeated fascism; he will defeat death too.

For this reason, the only thing we must do right now is to stand by Gürkan Türkoğlu. As a father, I would also like to say this: we have never left our children alone.

That is why Gürkan’s response was very important to us. His blood pressure is improving day by day. His liver enzyme levels continue to fall.

We wish to make it clear that we will not leave the hospital forecourt until Gürkan Türkoğlu is transferred from the hospital to prison. We thank everyone.”
