Further arrests in Kenya of counter-summit protesters

Today, 12 May, Kenyan police arrested at least 13 protesters opposing the Africa-France summit, in addition to the five Kenyan student activists arrested yesterday.

The summit was attended by French President Macron, who in recent months has sent hundreds of troops to Kenya in an attempt to establish a new platform for French intervention in Africa, following the defeat suffered in the Sahel (Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger).


The counter-summit organised by comrades from the Marxist Communist Party of Kenya, known as PASAI 2026, featured international discussions between communist and anti-imperialist comrades, as well as demonstrations and marches through the streets of Nairobi.
