In Marseille, France, two communist movements, Supernova (Marxist-Leninist French bi-annual magazine) and OCF (French Communist Organization), are organising one-day solidarity hunger strikes in support of political prisoners in Turkey who are resisting systematic isolation in S, R and Y ‘pit-like’ prisons.
A one-day solidarity hunger strike is to be carried out by nine internationalists from 9 to 17 March.
The international solidarity chain began on 30 March 2025, and has continued uninterrupted since then.
In response to the call from IS4PP, individuals and movements have joined the campaign by staging one- or multi-day solidarity hunger strikes in support of political prisoners in Turkey. The prisoners are demanding the closure of isolation prisons of types S, R and Y, also known as ‘pit-type’ prisons.
Through ongoing death fasts and indefinite hunger strikes in Turkey, dozens of victories have been achieved, with resisting prisoners being transferred to non-pit-like prisons!
To end the tyranny of prison isolation regimes, people all over the world should join the struggle with the support of all movements that stand in solidarity with political prisoners.
